HEALTHY KIDS!

* Sports: encourage your child to practice sports and movement.
Before school the child satisfied his need for movement by playing. But, after he/she enrolls in school he/she would become less active and enthusiastic.
Encourage him/her to become part of a sports team or to practice sports through a family sports program, such as walking, cycling, swimming and playing ball at least twice a week.

* Sun exposure causes skin cancer.
So, preserve your child by protecting from the hot rays of the sun, especially during the hot summer days.

* Teach your child to avoid smoking.
Warn him against tobacco and explain to him/her the relation between smoking and lung, mouth, throat and esophagus cancer. Explain to him/her also the adverse effects of smoking and the importance of not being present in any place polluted with smoke because that negatively affects the respiratory tracts.
Keep him/her safe in a house free of smoke and let him/her partake in making the environment surrounding him free of smoke.

* Be firm by saying "no" to alcohol and drugs.
Alcohol, tobacco and drugs are a deadly trio.
Teach your child the adverse effects of alcohol and drugs and that the latter are banned by God to whom be ascribed all perfection and majesty.

* Call on your family doctor regularly for a regular check-up of your child.
Later, he/she will learn to continue caring for his/her health by undergoing preventive routine tests to detect disease.

* Be a role model for your child.
First: by a balanced nutritional diet.
Second: sports.
Three: not smoking.
Four: no alcohol.
Five: regular check-up for early detection.
